Here at Imagine Shih Tzu we DO NOT Breed " Tiny Types" , "Teacups" or Imperial
Shih Tzu. We abide by the standard put forth by the ASTC and the AKC. The Breed
Standard for Shih Tzu calls for the weight to be 9-16 Lbs. We encourage anyone
considering purchasing a "Tiny Shih Tzu" to throughly do some research before
making a purchase that you may regret later. If you are looking for a "Tiny" pet
you may consider a Yorkie or a Maltese. Again we encourage you to study and
learn about these breeds before you make a purchase. No One should take dog
ownership lightly it is a full time commitment the whole dogs life and it's just not
fair to the dog not to have the best care possible. Please visit the ASTC and read
about The Myth about Imperials or Tiny Shih Tzu.

If you are considering adding a new puppy to your household, Please take the time to read the
below links. Not all registry's are created equal. Here at Imagine Shih Tzu we only register our
puppies with the AKC, which is the second oldest registry of pure bred dogs. Please also take
the time to read about other registry's and what they require of the breeders. And how they
are different from the AKC. Ask questions of the breeder you are considering, to see if you get
a good enough reason "WHY" if they don't register their puppies through the AKC. They are
many cheaper registries out there but a new puppy should not be taken lightly, do you really
want to be wondering if you got a pure bred puppy, even with papers. As we said before not all
Registries are created equal. Some registries only require two witnesses (any witnesses-Do
they know the breed and the standard?) to sign and photo's to prove they are pure bred. So in
my Opinion you could register anything anyone has bred. Please Do Your Homework...
Currently there is this major trend to mix different breeds together. Well in my OPINION that is just so
stupid. Most people come to reputable breeders for a healthy dog, well it is only common sense if you
breed two dogs together from different breeds the outcome of the puppies could be that they end up
with problems each individual breed has. Face the facts: There is no perfect dog and ALL the breeds
have health issues, some worse than others. Reputable breeders will be trying to breed away from
these health issues in their particular breed. Please think twice before you go out and spend alot of
money for a mutt. Chances are they will not have been tested for anything. And in my OPINION this is
only another scam to make money. Please read about: The Myth of Hybrid Vigor in Dogs.
This will better explain why the whole hybrid thing is just not logical.
